Product Overview

Jon Benson's 7-Minute Muscle book coverWritten by Jon Benson, who is the best selling author of Fit Over 40 and the Every Other Day Diet. In this book Benson takes a fresh look at the way we workout. He also exposes what he calls the "supplement scam."

The book itself is much lighter than our top recommendations, but it makes a good addition to your muscle building library or a complement to one of the more comprehensive programs.

Customer Feedback

"What I found most interesting in Jon's book was his full disclosure of the supplement scams. I went from taking 9 different products a day down to just two."

- Body building magazine

"I'm busy and time is my most valuable asset. I have changed my routine completely after reading this book. I am working my tail off, but I have reduced my workout schedule by 6 hours a week"

- Muscle building forum

"In the advertising for this book he claims that most people that are working out are wasting their time. He showed me that I was one of those people wasting their time. I'm now off the supplements, spending less time in my workouts, and building muscle faster than I ever have."

Product Review

Benson has followed up his previous best sellers with his take on the structuring of workout routines and the overselling of supplements by most of today's gurus and trainers.

This book is not a comprehensive program like many of the other packages we review here. Rather, Jon's approach is to dispel the common myths on workouts and supplements. It's Jon's contention that we've been taught wrong: that we've been taught we need to workout for a set amount of time to get the results we need. Jon doesn't believe this to be true, and makes the case for shorter workouts.

While many of his thoughts are unconventional, he seems to have a loyal following to back up his teachings. He also has a lot of credibility in the industry with his previous best selling books.

It's important to note that this is not a complete system, but more of a concept. It can save you a lot of time, but for those mass gainers who are looking for bulk in a book, you won't find it here. You are definitely paying for the concepts and not on a per-page basis.

And here are those concepts:

  • You can burn fat and build muscle at the same time. The energy required to build muscle mass comes from stored bodyfat.
  • Your diet must be sufficiently high in protein and good fats.
  • Your workouts must be the shortest possible to gain results. Jon outlines 7 minute workouts (for average folks), 14 minute workouts (for intermediate to advanced folks), and 21 minute workouts (for the truly hardore)
  • Stimulate the mind and body to build muscle
  • Walk as much as you can

The bottom line with this program is that Jon justifies the price tag of his book with the time savings he expects you to gain from using his program.
