4 Tips on Building Muscle Fast, Part 4

In parts 1 through 3 of this article, we looked at 3 of the key building blocks of gaining muscle mass quickly. If you want to build muscle fast, these are three of the four keys we're going to discuss. Keep in mind, I'm not an expert, I'm just relaying what I've found through research. If you want to know what the experts think, use their programs.

The fourth and final building block we're going to cover is variety.

Variety Keeps your Muscles Adapting

I first hear of muscle confusion from Tony Horton. It's a key component that's missing from most people's workouts. And, it's one of the main reasons most people stop seeing results very soon after they start working out.

Your muscles need resistance to grow, that's a fact that we all know and accept. But your muscles are built to quickly adapt to the pressures that they face, so you have to keep forcing them to adapt.

You do this by:

  • Increasing the resistance
  • Switching up the number of reps and number of sets
  • Changing the total time under load, by modifying the pace at which your work out
  • Introducing new movements into your muscle workout on a regular basis

All of these things keep your muscles guessing, forcing them to adapt by rebuilding themselves stronger and faster.

So there you have it: the fourth key to building muscle mass is to keep your muscles confused.
